Event details
🌙 What to expect during the run
First 30–40km (evening to midnight)
Feeling decent if well-hydrated and fueled at Iftar.
Cooler night temperatures (good for running).
Frequent hydration stops (water, electrolytes) – but you're not fasting anymore, so drinking is allowed.
40–70km (late night to early morning)
Fatigue sets in. Legs get heavy.
Mental challenge: running through 2–4 AM when body naturally wants sleep.
Need small, frequent meals (bananas, energy gels, light sandwiches) – similar to sahur but spread out.
70–100km (dawn to morning)
Extreme exhaustion. Risk of cramps, blisters, nausea.
Sunrise brings heat – dangerous if still running past 8–9 AM in Brunei's tropical climate.
Many would need support crew for pacing, first aid, and motivation.
⚠️ Major concerns
Health risks
Dehydration and heatstroke (Brunei humidity is high, even at night).
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) after fasting all day + extreme exertion.
Muscle breakdown, kidney stress, heart strain.
Logistical issues
Where to run 100km in Brunei? Limited safe, well-lit, traffic-free routes.
Need aid stations every 5–10km with water, food, medical supplies.
Support vehicle or crew essential.
Ramadhan considerations
If you run past dawn (around 5:30 AM in Brunei), you'd be fasting again while still running – extremely dangerous and likely not permissible for health reasons.
Most sane ultramarathoners would start before dawn (during sahur) and finish after Iftar, not the other way around.
